PDF Fill & Sign

Add text, check marks and a drawn signature to an existing PDF, then download a new PDF, without uploading it.

Processed locally — your PDF stays on your device.

How to fill and sign a PDF

  1. Choose a PDF, or drop it onto the tool.
  2. Add text, a check mark or an X, or draw a mark such as your signature or initials.
  3. Drag a mark to move it, and use its corner handle to resize it. With the keyboard, select a mark and use the arrow keys (Shift moves further; Alt resizes). Change the text, size and colour in the panel above the page.
  4. Select Create filled PDF, then download the new file. Its name ends in -filled.pdf.

What your new PDF contains

Your marks become part of the page content of a new PDF, added after the original file's contents. The original pages, text and any fillable form fields stay as they were, and form fields stay fillable. Nothing is removed, so this does not clean or hide anything in the original. Doodleden checks the new file before offering it; if a check fails, no file is offered.

A drawn mark is a picture of your handwriting, not a digital signature. Doodleden does not sign documents cryptographically or verify signatures. If a PDF already has a digital signature, you are told before you continue that adding marks will make signature checkers report it as modified after signing.

Password-protected PDFs can be previewed after you enter the password, but marks cannot be added to them. Text uses a standard sans-serif font with Western European characters; other characters are flagged rather than replaced. A PDF can be up to 25 MB and 100 pages, with up to 200 marks.

Everything happens on your device, so very large PDFs, such as high-resolution scans and photos, need a lot of memory. Phones and tablets give a web page much less memory than computers do, and their browsers may close the page if a file needs more. If that happens, try the same file on a computer.

Private by design

The tool runs in a separate, sandboxed frame in your browser. Your PDF, anything you type and the finished file stay inside that frame and on your device. They are kept apart from the rest of this page, including any ads.
